The State of Delaware has reduced it personal income taxes at all income levels. There has never been a general sales tax or an inventory tax in the State, and there are no State real property taxes. Sussex County does have a very low real property tax. The County government and school districts are financed in part through these real property receipts. The total of the State and local tax burden in Delaware is very competitive with most other states.
